Golfing

FINALLY!!!!! I was able to go golfing yesterday for the first time in about 9 or 10 years. It felt good to get out and do something for a change.

My friend Joe asked me to join him and his son, Brandon, for a round of golf. I was excited because I really miss playing and I have really needed to get outside and do something to get rid of this gut I have acquired over the past many years! hahaha.

I shot an 89. Those of you that know golf know how good of a score that is for someone that hasn't been out on the links for 10 years. I have to confess, though, that it was a par 3 course! hahaha. The score is not so good now, is it? Oh well, it was a really good time and I want to go again. I was able to get 3 pars, one of which was capped with a 90 foot putt.

Brandon made an amazing birdie with a beautiful chip shot from about 40 feet away. Joe had the best score.

I'm all red on my arms now from sunburn but it isn't too bad. It's a price I am willing to pay to have a good time. hahaha

One down, 4 to go.

The Frog and I

When I went outside today, I happened to notice a frog in the grass. I went over to look at him and, to my surprise, he started to talk. Here is how the conversation went.

He said "Pat, I know things are tough for you now but think about this. When I was first brought into this world, I looked like pond scum. I later hatched and became a tadpole. At that point in my life I looked like a large black sperm! I then grew legs and lost my tail. My gills disappeared and I grew lungs. Finally, I left the water i was hatched in and began to eat bugs and flies and all sorts of insects. Now I have a shiny skin, a long tongue and big, beautiful eyes."

What he said got me to thinking. I thought "Why am i listening to a stupid frog. Did I take acid and not know it?"

After that I just stepped on the frog and left for work.

The moral of this story is never talk to frogs, they just don't make sense!

Summertime!!!!!

Well, it's summer here. Hot weather, my son's graduation and the kids being home all day. I love summer because I can go outside without wrapping up in a coat that weighs as much as I do! hahaha

Last week my oldest son graduated from high school. I can honestly say that there was not one parent more proud of their child than I am. Every time I think about what he has accomplished I am just amazed. Soon he will be off to Yale. I'm going to miss him a lot. Two summers ago we spent a lot of time together and even went on a University road trip! We saw Yale, Harvard, Brown, MIT and decided to take a little side trip to Maine. We ate the "best chowder in New England"! It was just great. I will never forget that trip and how we just had a great time. I hope I can get a few days off this summer just to spend time with the 8 lb. 10 oz. baby that has grown into a 6'1'' young man. I'm so excited for his future and yet a bit sad to think he wont always be here.

This summer looks like last year though. I only had 6 days off all summer. So far it looks like I may have 10 days off. Of course, those wont be in a row, they will be scattered throughout the 2 months. Hopefully I can save some of that overtime money. I have plans for late September or early October.

Some other things I want to do this summer are go fishing, golfing, go to Toronto and maybe even see a movie. I would also like to go bowling. hahaha

We will see. I probably wont be able to do any of these things because of my work schedule but who knows. There have been a few surprises in my life that I never expected so never say never!
